Supporting the health and well-being of individuals, families and the community — Highland Hospital Medical Campus in Oakland

A diverse group of intergenerational families and neighbors are coming together for art workshops, guided by local, community-engaged teaching artists to create a public mural, which will be installed around the perimeter of the Highland Hospital campus in Oakland during construction and renovation of the medical center.

 

Art workshops conducted from September – November 2010. Community mural presentation: March 2011 – December 2013.

Improving future opportunities for at-risk youth by strengthening family relationships - Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center in San Leandro

Youth, between 12 and 18 years old who are detained at the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, and their family members will collaborate to create artwork that celebrates family history and heritage, and strengthens family bonds to prevent subsequent detention.

Nurturing the development of children and the family unit – Project site TDB

Focusing on child development, strong parenting and healthy living, young children ages 3 to 9 years old and their family members living in low-income areas of Alameda County will create artwork together.
